Hi Everyone,
I'm having problems with some of our stations (mostly laptops with onboard intel graphics) which are working with Creo View 2.0. The program is able to open and view models and drawings but when the user selects print the image prints as a solid black page. This is repeatable accross all printers and even print to PDF converters. Has anyone seen this before and is there a known fix?
Thanks
Dave
Hi all,
I will be more precise. We have many computers that run Creo Elements 5 M250 and Creo View 3. On a single computer and for a single user it fails to start. If launched as a standalone program from start, programs, etc, it only runs for 1-3 seconds before crashing. It can only be monitored shortly from the task manager, as nothing actually appears. If launched as a plugin of IE or Chrome, I only get a white empty page without anything in it.
The weird thing is that on the same computer, if we logged in as different users, the program works fine. At the same time, if the user logs in on another computer the program works as well.
Unfortunaltely, I have been autorizhed to rebuild his profile on his machine, which I think could help us, so I would like to know if someone has any idea of what I could do to help the user.
I have already unistalled and installed "everything", creo view, creo elements, java, desktop integration, etc. but with no results. The issue is not related to any particular drawing.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Hi All
I am experiencing an issue with Creo View 1.0 Lite and hope you can help me find a solution.
When I click on a link to open a file from Windchill, the Internet Explorer starts Creo Viewer as expected.
But the Creo Viewer does not show the pdf-file.
The pdf-file is opened by Adobe Reader while Creo Viewer presents me with the error-message:
"Failed to load the file. Check the Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader Installation."
How do I configure Creo Viewer to show the pdf and not try to use Adobe Reader?
I'm using Wildfire 3.0 and Creo 2.0 on same PC
but there is a display problem only Creo 2.0 like below images
and I have tried to change config and graphic options.
please let me know how to solve the problem.
thank you

Hello, everyone.
I would like to know if it is possible to change the colours of the parts in an assembly in Creo View Express.
I have some problems with visualization of the plastic injection mould in Creo View Express 2.0.
The plates that were grey in Creo Parametric become black in Creo View Express. And some of them are represented in a wireframe mode.
So it's difficult to distinguish one part from another.
You can see what I mean in the pictures below.
Thanks in advance.
Vladimir.
We are working with huge assemblies. Those assemblies are sometimes stored in PDMLink and sometimes saved locally. We create some groups to filter out those assemblies and to visualize needed items only. Groups can be very numerous (more than 20). When stored in PDMLink, groups are shared with several users It's easy to add the same item in several groups : sometimes on purpose, sometimes by mistake. We would like a functionality that allow to quickly find out which group the selected item belongs to.
Suggestion is this one :
- select a item in the graphic area
- by a "command" or right click be able to know in which group(s) this item belongs to. Purpose is to remove this item from some group(s) if needed .
In version 4.0 of Creo View workaround is this one :
1- open each group in a dedicated view
2- "cross selected >enable all view" and select an item graphically. This item is highlighted in each view where it can be found.
3- Then, go to the filters function of the each group corresponding to the view where item is highlighted (name of views = name of groups) ... and search for the item n°.
This workaround is time consuming . The number of view as a limitation. The memory can be another limitation because it is supposed that all groups are opened in a view and 8 Gb can be reached. No massive assembly in the company.

In Creo Parametric 3.0 m30 a user creates a named view other than FRONT, RIGHT or TOP and then creates a section called A.
I would expect both of those to be listed when the model is opened in CREO View Lite.
Is there a recipe file edit or something to make those available to CREO View?
As the use of CreoView increases in our processes our CAD team gets repeating questions of why the CreoView viewable does not match the Creo Parametric model? Upon investigation we learn that a lower level component was edited and checked in to PDMLink which created the new as-stored image for that component. When the parent assembly is viewed in CreoView they expect to see the latest lower level component like they would if they added the parent to a workspace and opened in Creo Parametric. This is not the case with CreoView since it creates the collection of viewables associated to the checked in file. Whereas Creo Parametric builds the parent/child dependancies based on a preference to use "latest" versions.
If I may ask, how are other companies dealing with this scenario?
To pose a simple question with a hard answer. Why can't CreoView build its viewable image using similar function to Creo Parametric where it pulls the latest image files from the components to build the parent image ? This would certainly slow down the growth and maintenance of millions of image files and present what most users expect to see when looking at the lite weight file.
Kind Regards, Jim
I couldn't find a better area to ask this: I have two drawings with nearly the exact same part detailed. One has a section cutting plane line font as a dense phantom line. The other has a very wide spread phantom line font that, in my opinion, does not look good on the print. I can't find any discrepancies between the two drawing configs so I'm not sure why this has changed between the two drawings. I don't think it's the size of one of the parts as the part with the preferred cutting plane line font - its casting drawing has the bad looking cutting plane line font and obviously the casting is the same size...besides stock. I don't think the PTC defaults have changed in the time it took me to finish one drawing and create the other either as, again, I don't see any differences in the drawing configs. In the Creo drawing the cutting planes look alike but as soon as I plot them on PDF or even print them directly from Creo the one changes to the spaced out phantom font. Any ideas???
I would like to start expressing my drawing model views according the european system. Do you know how I can change from the american system to the european system?
Thank you
Vasco
Hi all,
I can create a viewable of multiple different viewables (MCAD and ECAD) by simply dragging them at the same time on the Creo View window. Then after saving the PVZ, I can open it again and all viewables are in there.
What I am trying to accomplish is to do this, but with a batch process.
Sadly I didnt'd find a solution with the proposed pvsmake when trying
pvsmake.exe -DrC:\ptc\creo_view_adapters\step_setup\pvsmake.rcp -o %model_base%.pvs %model1%.pvs %model2%.pvs %ecad-model3%.pvs
Even if it creates a file, it cannot be opened in Creo View. What am I doing wrong?
Another question would be how to make a PVZ of the resulting PVS file per command line?

Hi,
i'm seaching the "What's new" slides for the new CV4.
Can anybody help ?
Thanks

I'm not entirely sure what to accurately call these, so I haven't had much luck in finding help creating such. At the moment, I'm working to take 2D AutoCAD drawings and turning them into 3D Creo Parametric 2.0 models as well as to recreate the drawings in Creo. In particular, I'm floundering on how to make more complex section views display in my drawings.
Attached is a simplified ref of the original AutoCAD views I'm trying to replicate. I can cut it like the model via an actual extrude but I can't figure out how to get a view looking flat at both cut faces at once. I've also tried to create a xsec with two datum planes in the model itself to then put on the drawing as a 3D cross section, but at that point the view doesn't display the two cutting planes as flat, instead displaying the angled side as coming out of the page and as such a portion of the outer surface is displayed and any attempt to dimension on the view is rendered skewed and worthless.
As an additional little question, where's the option to exclude a part from showing as cut in a cross section of an assembly drawing? With cutting a cylinder I'd like to leave the piston rod fully displayed but cut through all other components.
Any pointers into the right direction for what I'm overlooking would be much appreciated.
Hi all,
We have had an issue with PTC Creo View 3.0 (MCAD). First of all, I'm not the actual user of the software, and I'm not too familiar with it.
One of our users however was working in the software when it crashed (do not know why). After the crash he opened the project again, but
when he tried to view the assembly, nothing shows up. The tree shows all parts with a small red x now (see screenshot). Does anybody have
an idea of what went wrong and/or how to fix it? The user spent several hours on the changes, saving regularly, but now has to start over...
Thanks in advance
Dominiek
