Display CAD files in a website

I would like to display our FIRST Robotics robot on our website.  These are the ideal features that a visitor to the website should experience.

1.  They have the ability to select, rotate, scroll, and zoom into the CAD file.

2.  They don't need to install any plugins or other viewing software.

3.  They can select and hide/show parts and assemblies.

4.  They can make parts transparent.

I'd be happy with the first one, but the others would be nice to have.  How can this be done with with CREO part and assembly files?  Does anyone have a link to a website that is already set up like this as an example.

Thanks,

Joe

Creo View

I have a extremely large model that I need to dimension/ make views of.  Is it possible to open this model in Creo View and do the following:

1.Dimension

2.Make Separate views, notes, gd&t, etc.

3. Make a drawing from it?

I think it would be extremely beneficial if we could do most of the drawing work in Creo View, then use that information to make a drawing off of.

Thanks,

Creo View 2.0 M040 install path

$

We've been using Creo View 2.0 M010 in connection with Windchill PDMLink 10.0 M030 without issue for over a year. We've had it installed in a non-default path (D:\apps\PTC\Creo 2.0\View) as we typically keep all our CAD software and related apps isolated to that D:\apps directory. In preparation for moving from Wildfire 4 to Creo 2 Parametric M090 next month, we thought we'd go to the latest M-code of Creo View 2.0 - M040. With that all Creo 2.0 related software is installed at D:\apps\PTC\Creo 2.0 - view continues to be in a "View" folder in that location and Creo Parametric 2.0 M090 is in the "Common Files", "Parametric" etc. Problem is, with Creo View 2.0 M040 installed in that location, it no longer works with Windchill PDMLink. The viewable window on the information page for an object is black and can't be clicked on to launch View. If I uninstall Creo View 2.0 M040 and let it install to the default C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 2.0\View folder, it works fine with Windchill. Going back and forth with this (uninstall, reinstall - alternating the paths) there is a clear correllation - default install path, it works...our preferred install path, it does not work. I tested it with Creo View 3.0 M010 and it behaves the same as 2.0 M040 - works with Windchill if installed to the default "C:\Program Files\ . . ." path, doesn't work with Windchill if installed to our preferred "D:\apps\. . .". Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? Thoughts on why it worked fine with Creo View 2.0 M010, but M040 and after it does not? In all cases, Creo View runs fine if manually started from the installation. Checking the registry, the install path is getting noted properly when installed in either location.

How can we hide the annotations when open in Creo View?

When we open an assembly with annotations that was created as Creo View file we always see all annotations from
all combined states when we open it.

Is there a way to turn off that behavior so that if we open it in Creo View the annotations only show up, if one of the combined
states will be selected where the annotation was created and not in the "start configuration"

Section view of imported STP file

Hello,

I have imported a STEP file as an assembly and I want to make a section view of this assembly. This has not been a problem so far until now.

After creating the section view, only some of the assembly is shown when using the section view in drawing mode.

It looks like that Creo has imported some of the subparts as hollow, with very thin "walls" so that these subparts, which should have had an surface, are not included in the section view. These subparts should have been imported as solid parts. Is there an easy and fast way to fix this? Is it possible to add surfaces/edges that should bee a part of the "section surface" manually?

Smart hyperlink on format referencing cell content

Playing around a bit with hyperlinks on drawings.

Read about hyperlinks on formats and that they need to be inside a table note.

Prepared a format and created a new drawing with that

In the examble below there is a drawing table that originated from the format and shows the modelname through report parameters (2999570-01)

Hoping for a hyperlink containing the 2999570-01 code I only got the section that's not mark yellow

smart-link.PNG

Is there a way to have the hyperlink constructed from fixed portion + table cell content

The above was ssetup on WF4

Has creo taken it further ?

The purpose of this all would be that I can go from my drawing/pdf directly to my PLM system

Mark up Creo View from External DFx source (Valor, DFM Pro,Adiva, Frontline Genesis, CAM35, aPriore, etc.)

We are a big company and have a lot of collaboration on DFM occurring on tools outside of Windchill.  Our partners use numerous tools to provide DFM feedback. If CREO VIew is to truly be a collaboration platform.  Can you please add the ability to import DFM "Sharelists" to CREO View?  We need a common format to exchange mark ups?   X,Y,Z location of the issue and some text.  Perhaps some other common items,  Name of Originator, Date stamp, Net or components impacted.

In addition to the mark up collaboration, Creo View can act as the common repository for this feedback across the many designs and teams.  We can find common issues.  Feedback trends from users, by area, by vendor, etc.

We would like to see this in the PTC Creo View roadmap.  First step is to get other users to respond to this discussion positively. If you agree with this. Please respond.

Creo View opens pdf in Adobe Reader with error-message.

Hi All

I am experiencing an issue with Creo View 1.0 Lite and hope you can help me find a solution.

When I click on a link to open a file from Windchill, the Internet Explorer starts Creo Viewer as expected.

But the Creo Viewer does not show the pdf-file.

The pdf-file is opened by Adobe Reader while Creo Viewer presents me with the error-message:

"Failed to load the file. Check the Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader Installation."

How do I configure Creo Viewer to show the pdf and not try to use Adobe Reader?

Adobe LifeCycle ES4 SP1 Office Document failed to convert to PDF

I have started to install the Adobe LC ES4 SP1 on the Windows 7 Pro 64-bit as our Test Publisher.  It works fine without any issue in MS Office 2010 publishing.

When moving to install it as Production system, it is installed on a VMWare with Windows 2008 R2 64-bit.  It has more memory (16 GB) and faster CPU speed.  However, it will not publish the MS Word or Excel document.  When testing in the ADMINUI page inside Adobe LifeCycle ES4 SP1 using "Create PDF", I encountered this error:

Error Code:10010
  Error Message:

Error message from the primary converter:
ALC-PDG-010-010-The conversion has timed out.

Error message from the fallback converter:
ALC-PDG-011-030-Submitted OpenOffice Document could not be converted to PDF. Either OpenOffice is not installed on this system or environment variable OpenOffice_PATH is not set to correct path. Please set OpenOffice_PATH environment variable to the <OpenOffice_Installation_Dir> on the server (e.g C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice.org 3.0) and then restart the server.

I have the 32-bit MS Office Professional version installed and activated fine.  I am not sure why Adobe LC ES4 SP1 is not picking MS Office to publish, but fall back to OpenOffice in publishing?  I have searched the PTC KB and saw the same issue in the past for Adobe Acrobat 9 and Adobe LC ES3 issue and thought this issue should be resolved.  I have Adobe Acrobat XI also coming with the PTC license, so they should be OK.

I sent the Adobe LC ES4 server.log to PTC TS, but found no useful info.

Has anyone had an idea why it would not call MS Office to publish?  or may have any solution?

Two Pro/E Workers? One for HPGL and the other for PDF?

$

All,

Is it possible to set up two Pro/E workers that are used for different functions? I'd like our existing Pro/E worker to continue to operate as it does now creating HPGL reps of drawings that can be used with PV's markup tools. I'd like to set up a new worker for use by our document control group to create PDF reps of released drawings.

It looks like "Dedicated Publish Queues" might be the way to do this but the documentation in the Sys Admin guide seems very incomplete and talks about "Custom Hooks" and other things. Before I spend a lot of time trying to learn what all that means I'd like to find out if what I want to do is even possible. Can I set up a privileged user to be able to manually publish from the Windchill interface to a different worker?

Thanks,

Mike Foster

Exporting a projection

Hi all,

I work with a client who uses ProE for medical device design. They export their files to obj's and I bring them into Cinema 4D for product rendering and animation. The models have are etched with scale marks, product numbering, co. logo, etc. The etching design is saved in the ProE file as a "projection", which does not come through in the obj file. Does anyone know if there is a way for them to save this projection as a jpeg or pdf so I can map it onto the models in C4D?

The engineer who is my contact seems to have limited energy to figure this out independently, so I would appreciate a fairly detailed a step by step if possible.

Thank you, David

How to change the linestyle of a 2D-Vector-File

Hello everybody,

I wonder how I can define the width of the lines when I use:

File => Save Current View As => Save as 2D Vector File  => PDF

I didn't find any recipe or pen table file I could use for this. Or is it simply not possible to Change something here in CV?

I used CV3.1 MCAD when trying this.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Fred

Does somebody know how to customize render mode in Creo Illustrate?

E.g. two different modes for big and smaller assemblies with different line thickness.

Or customize the % of color for white shaded illustration.

I searched in config folder (all the *.xml files) but didn’t find anything.

Productview Updating

(This is a repost from another list, so sorry to anyone who has seen it twice now.)

<u></u><u>Short Version:</u> For anyone out there who uses Productview for more than just viewing, meaning you create animations or annotation sets, etc, do you have a way that you update the assembly components when they change?

<u>Long Version:</u>

We want to start really using Productview for animations (w/Realizer) and creating annotations and exploded graphics. Yes, I know Pro/E can do both of these things, but the people who need to do this work are non Pro/E users, but they do know Productview (and really like it), from using it as a viewing tool for the past several years. The problem is that the assemblies they want to animate or explode are not static, they are still changing, so we need a way that a revised component can be updated in the EDZ file, where an animation or annotation has already been created. I can do this manually by replacing the .ol file within the EDZ, but this method won't cut it for the rank-and-file user. We've thought about programming something, but we've heard the EDZ file will be going binary in a future release, which means we wouldn't be able to do it manually anymore.

Does anyone out there do this sort of thing?

Thanks, John

Hello Experts

  • I have done the following steps:
  • Associated few attributes only to WTPart and not to EPMDocument
  • Published CAD file and the visualization is updated and associated with WTPart structure
  • Now I have the visualization with the attribute information associated to WTPart
  • However, when I open the file in CreoView, I don't see WTPart attributes in the list

Anything that I am missing here?

Republish Out Of Date

So I've gone through and have set up my test system and the properties on it to republish out of date items.  So I changed a component that is used in an assembly.  The assembly doesn't start republishing. doesn't watermark the picture on the Details page and does not even register or show up when you Schedule a job to RepublishAllOutOfDateRepresentations.  I am on Windchill M030-CPS09 with the latest adapters which are M032.  Anyone have any ideas of how to get this to work?
